NAMI In Our Own Voice presentations change attitudes, assumptions, and ideas about people with mental health conditions. These free, 40, 60, or 90-minute presentations provide a personal perspective of mental health conditions as leaders with lived experience talk openly about what it's like to have a mental health conditions

What you need to know about mental health. 

  • One in five adults experience mental health conditions each year. That equals about 43.8 million adults in the U.S. 

  • Mental health conditions are NOT caused by personal weakness, lack of character or poor upbringing.

  • They ARE medical conditions that can impact a person’s thinking, feeling or mood and may affect his or her ability to relate to others and function on a daily basis. Genetics, the structure of the brain, environment and lifestyle can all impact mental health.
